چکیده:
A new two-phase atomizer of Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) process studied experimentally recently, by Photography & Image Processing Method. This paper focuses on structure and performance of the FCC nozzle. Special emphasis was placed on the study of the liquid atomization. There are various methods for investigation of nozzle properties. One of these methods is Photography & Image Processing method that is relatively new, accurate, low cost and low power consumption in comparison to laser-based systems. It is an efficient and economic system for measuring the size of spray drops. The image processing system described considerably reduces the total measuring time, eliminates subjective observer error in sizing and counting spray drops, and has proved to be substantially efficient. In this work, the atomizer was designed and construct at first & then some experiments, performed on it by means of a Digital Camera and programmed by MATLAB Software. The effects of different distances from nozzle outlet on droplet size and velocity distribution in downward spray are studied. Predictions of droplet diameters and velocities are presented as relevant experimental results and compared with CFD Simulation and found them in a relatively good agreement.
